Passion & Purpose

I have to admit that I don’t know much about astrology except for the fact that I’m a Capricorn; however, when a friend shared the following with me for January 4th from “The Birthday Book” by Clare Gibson, I found it to be so accurate that I wanted to share it as an introduction:  “People born on this day manage to combine an impressive capacity for organization in their working and domestic habits with a noticeable independence of thought, with the result that they often come up with ideas of startling originality, and then implementing them with meticulous thoroughness.”  I passionately embrace these strengths of mine as I enjoy sharing them through offering Llife Enhancing SolutionS.  In other words, I strive to inspire you to enjoy life more with LESS.

I am also guided by the following unanticipated life-changing insights that I gained via an acoustic neuroma tumor in which my inner ear was removed along with the tumor leaving me deaf in my left ear, my balance compromised, and a unique smile.  First, as I was learning to walk again, I realized the need to establish equilibrium/strive for balance in all dimensions of my life….To avoid getting motion sick I needed to keep looking in one direction; and in turn, I recognized the importance of being focused in order to accomplish my goals…Lastly, I have found joy & purpose in CANcentrating on what I CAN do. Thus, I like to think of myself as a CANsultant adopting the acronym CAN Canmit/Act/Now- resulting in NOpportunity Wasted.  My desire is for you to nurture your sense of CANfidence so that you can thrive and experience life the way it’s meant to be…

What are you waiting for….

About

I consider myself to be a physical Iowa farm girl even though we moved off the farm when I was 13 due to my dad’s father’s passing.  I’m number 5 in a line-up of 7 girls.  I feel  fortunate to have always been action oriented as I initially tried to keep up with my older sisters, matured into chores, and then added sports. I wanted to be a physical education teacher, but a brotherly friend told me I didn’t have enough muscles so when I met with the high school guidance counselor I said I wanted to be a geologist.  This dates me, but he said, “That’s not a woman’s field.  Here, apply for this Dietetic scholarship.”  I got the scholarship and went on to get a BS in Dietetics & a BS in Community Nutrition from Iowa State University.  I later pursued my MBA from the University of St. Thomas where I researched the economic benefits of wellness programs.

I’ve continued to build my background in the field of healthy lifestyles & wellness to incorporate personal training as well as life coaching.  In a sense, I feel that I’ve completed the circle back to when I wanted to be  a physical education teacher.

My life’s journey has taken many twists and turns, involved detours, and mountains.  Now, I want to share what I’ve learned from my past experiences, enjoy the present, and look forward to what lies ahead- like when I’m hiking on a new trail, I just want to keep going to see what’s around the bend.

Happy trails…
